  4. Thank you for trying MicroPlanet Gravity, a 32-bit newsreader.
  5. This file is brief and is designed to point you to other
  6. resources.  Please be sure to send us your feedback!

  9. --- Important!!! ---
  10.  
  11.      Version 2.5 database files are backward compatible with
  12.      version 2.3 and 2.2 files, but not with previous versions.
  13.      When you install 2.5, your Gravity database files will be
  14.      automatically converted to the new format if you are using
  15.      an older version.  If you want to be able to restore
  16.      previous versions of the product, see the section below.

  18. --- Restoring Previous Versions Of Gravity ---
  19.  
  20.      When you install Gravity over previous versions, you are given an
  21.      opportunity to create a backup of your previous database and settings
  22.      so that you can restore them if necessary.  If you backed up your
  23.      database and settings, the steps for restoring a previous version are:
  24.      
  25.           1) Print out these instructions (they will get removed by
  26.              step 2).
  27.      
  28.           2) Use the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs feature to remove
  29.              MicroPlanet Gravity.
  30.      
  31.           3) Re-install the older version you want to restore
  32.              (e.g. 1.1 or 2.0).  Be careful to re-install into the
  33.              directory where it was previously installed.
  34.      
  35.              DURING INSTALLATION OF THE PREVIOUS VERSION, YOU WILL BE
  36.              ASKED IF YOU WANT TO RUN GRAVITY.  ANSWER NO TO THIS
  37.              QUESTION AND EXIT OUT OF THE INSTALL.

  39.           4) Locate the directory where the backup was made.  The
  40.              default location is c:\Program files\Gravity\Backup.
  41.              Run GravityBackup.exe from that directory to restore the
  42.              backup file (.grv) that you created.
  43.      
  44.           5) Run your older copy of Gravity to confirm that it performs
  45.              correctly.
  46.      
  47.      Note : When you upgrade from 1.1 or 2.0 to Gravity 2.3, the
  48.      installation script renames the directory to "Gravity" from
  49.      "Anawave Gravity."  If, after restoring your previous version, you
  50.      no longer need the backup program and file that was created, then
  51.      you should remove the Gravity directory so that future versions of
  52.      Gravity can install properly.

  75.      Gravity is a 32-bit newsreader and requires Windows 95,
  76.      Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT, or Windows 2000  and WSOCK32.DLL.
